 ST MELLONS AGRICULTURAL SHOW

CODE OF SAFETY

The members and committee of the St Mellons Agricultural Show which to state the following conditions which apply during preparation for the show, during the event itself and whilst exhibitions are dismantled.  All exhibitors' retailers'caterers equipment suppliers, event organisers and members of the public should ensure that they comply with all current Health and Safety Executive Legislation and guidelines and in particular:

1. Showground signs with special notice to be paid to those denoting areas to which access is restricted to members of the public and or animals and vehicles.

2. No gas appliance or portable generators may be used on the show field that have not recently been examined and tested by a competent person.  Appliances used should be labelled to indicate examiners name and date of examination.

3.Persons who supply or loan equipment for use by the organisers or members of the public must ensure that it complies fully with current legislation and standard relevant to its proposed use that it is properly maintained.

4. Any steam or pressure vessels or lifting applince used or demonstrated must have undergone a recent inspection should be labelled accordingly and should be appropriately insured.

5. Fairground devices [including all passenger carrying rides] are only allowed on the basis that the codes of safe practice at fairs has been observed and understood by all operators.

6. Any use of equipment by persons less than 13 years of age is prohibited.

7. Any accidents or injuries should be reported immediatley to the Secretary's tent where first aid will be available.

8. Riders of horses should wear hat confirming to the relevant British Standard for the activity.

9. Access to show rings is restricted to person involved in the oganisation of the event and exhibitors/competitors.

10. All emergency access routes will be clearly indicated and should not be obstructed by cehicles at any time.

11. All exhibitors and competitors should be awar of the Show Committee's Health and Safety Policy statement, copies of which are available in advance or in the secretary's tent on ShowDay.  Anyone who breakes the rules of the society or who contravenes any of the conitions laid out in the Health and Safety Policy Statement will be asked to leave the showground.
